Adventure!
6/1/17
Adventure presents itself in strange ways, but maybe that's what defines the word.
Upon closer inspection of my ticket, it was quickly realized that my flight was identical to the rest of the group's, with the exception of the date being exactly one day later. After some moments of slight panic, a hotel reservation and cancellation, and several calls, my hero comes in his shining Subaru to fetch me and put me up comfortably in a spare room. Lucky to have relatives that live in parts all over this world and certainly lucky to have ones with such open arms.
So here I am, a day later, having been given another day of adventure. Uncle Keith made sure I left Alaska with a boom and arranged for me to tag along on a plane ride first thing this morning over the gorgeous plains surrounding Anchorage. The day is perfectly sunny and clear and the monstrous Mt. Danali can be seen from over 200 miles away. He and Pam and I regroup for breakfast at a longstanding local joint and hit the town for a Northern Lights theater show, a look at native historic art and do some souvenir shopping. We have a a lovely late lunch at The Peanut Farm before it's off to the airport again for me. I will ride the red eye tonight and arrive home tomorrow morning. This trip has been has taught me many things and continues to teach me still, and I am so very thankful for it.
